Here we are entering Fall 2023 and it is time to re-charter the troop with Cradle of Liberty Council.  I hope everyone finds their time with the troop rewarding and fun.  As a member of Troop 369 please be aware that the troop charges a minimal re-charter or registration fee.  Instead we charge activity fees to cover the cost per activity your scout participates in.  Awards are paid for through fundraising efforts.  In the next two months we will be submitting our new roster and paying a fee of more than $2000.  I am assuming that there will be no change to the roster unless you notify me otherwise.

I hope that you continue to see the value of scouting and the commitment of the troop’s adult leaders.  We do this because we believe in your sons and the values instilled by the BSA.  By  November 25 please remember to send in a check in the amount of $90 made out to: BSA Troop 369.  If you desire a subscription to Boys Life please make your check in the amount of $102.  Adult leaders pay a renewal fee of $65. 

I understand that Scouting functions can be a financial burden, but the experiences gained through scouting will deliver powerful returns for the rest of your son’s life.  So, please try to be timely with your payments.

The fee breaks down as follows:

Of the $90 fee $85 goes to National and $2 goes to Council.  The troop retains $3 to help defray the cost of the program.

This Tuesday night is a Patrol Leaders Council Meeting which will start closer to 8.  Prior to the PLC we will be conducting menu planning for the East Greenville trip.  Bring ideas for your best and favorite creations.

Only two weeks away from the Lafayette District Camporee.  This is a tent camping experience with limited parking.  Scouts will participate in campwide games in the afternoon and take merit badges in the morning.  Scouts will be outside all day so please dress for the weather.  Scouts are requested to bring a camp chair.  Our camping assignment is not yet determined.  Attached please find the leaders guide for the weekend and the merit badge guide.  On the merit badge guide please disregard the sign up section as i have already taken care of this, instead focus on you classroom assignment and prerequisite requirements. Scouts be prepared to cook your meals and offer a couple of skits.

Saturday October 14 at 9 am, scouts that are looking to fulfill their cooking requirements on a hike will have an opportunity to do so.  The hike will last 3-4 hours and will depart and return to the main picnic area. 

Also, communication members be prepared to perform a campfire skit at the midpoint.  Make it count and take lots of pictures. Any scouts looking forward to get a jump on the hiking merit badge will have an opportunity to complete the first requirement.  Please sign up on the website

Our canoe trip this weekend has been canceled due to tropical storm Ophelia !

She sinks.  She sinks in holy sadness.  Like an Ophelia in tears she sinks...

At this weeks troop meeting please remember the following:

• if you are in the service patrol arrive by 7:15 to help with setup
• bring your scout books so they can be updated and entered into the computer
• return any tent you took home to clean
• return all tarps.  currently we have no tarps on the trailer.  That means there are about 15 tarps at your homes.
